This is a personal, non-yugioh-related post, but uh...
Us eighth graders won a cheer dance competition as the champions! Against 7-10th graders.
We didnt really expect it as our year is known to be the underdogs of the whole highschool (and we haven't won many competitions before), we never took practice seriously, plus, we thought we'd get disqualified bc some1 overdid a stunt, I think (which we thought wudve been illegal). And we got prepared to get last place.
But dude, we won—we frickin’ won. And we all almost got sore throat from cheering during the dance and for celebrating, and one of my friends cried for almost ten minutes straight XD
So... Yeah. A lil update on what's going on in my life, ig. That's all. :P
#personal#i was shivering during the dance lol#and for the awarding ceremony we were all gloomy#NONE of us expected it#we thought to get fourth (last)#perhaps third#and when we knew it wasnt last we already started cheering#we went up higher the cheers got a bit louder#and then the host said whoever they wont say is the champion#wjen she said we YELLED#SCREAMED from the top of our lungs#we frickn beat the 10th grade#when she said 10*#long post

Banning African films like Rafiki and Inxeba doesn’t diminish their influence
by Gibson Ncube, Associate Professor at the University of Zimbabwe
Social media and internet forums function as an important space of contestation for issues relating to queer identities. This is evident in reactions to two fairly recent queer-themed African films, one from South Africa – Inxeba/The Wound – and the other from Kenya – Rafiki.
The films were met with diverse responses, from government bannings and cultural backlash to enthusiastic viewers and international awards. On social media and internet forums, reactions differ from those of state institutions.
These various responses should be understood against the background that in many African countries, with the exception of South Africa in this case, queer sexualities are criminalised and deemed ‘unAfrican’. Many argue that homophobia itself is unAfrican and a relic of colonial laws and mores.
In my research, I have explored the fact that African queer lives are complex and don’t tell a single story. By viewing these films as popular social texts it became clear that government censorship has been unable to stop support for them or the kinds of discussions they generate, especially online.
Films as popular social texts
In Africa, films have become popular social texts. They are readily accessible and easily distributed, thanks to the internet and hand-held screen devices as well as the large-scale sale of pirated DVDs. The informality of circulation, coupled with the affordability of pirated films, has ensured that film has overtaken literary or text-based genres in influence in many parts of Africa.
Films like Inxeba (2017) and Rafiki (2018) can function as popular social texts in that they can ask questions about social issues – in this case queer lived experiences on the continent. Popular social texts appeal to large audiences. It is against such sociocultural and political backgrounds that the reception of the films Inxeba and Rafiki should be understood.
youtube
Inxeba was directed by John Trengove and was released in 2017. It tells the story of how queer sexuality is negotiated within the cultural space of ulwaluko, the Xhosa people’s rites of initiation into manhood. Two young minders engage in a gay relationship and a love triangle develops.
Rafiki was directed by Kenyan filmmaker Wanuri Kahiu. It centres on two young women who fall in love in Nairobi after meeting because their fathers are contesting the same election.
Inxeba presents picturesque images of the natural world. Rafiki offers a kaleidoscopic depiction of urban spaces. These vibrant and picturesque depictions contrast with the gloomy lived experiences of the protagonists.
State bannings
On its release, the South African Film and Publication Board banned Inxeba. The reason given, through a series of tweets, was “the perceived cultural insensibility and distortion of the Xhosa circumcision tradition (and) strong language in the film”.
Rafiki met a similar fate when it was released. The Kenya Film Classification Board said in a statement banning the film that its ending was “not remorseful enough, (making) it seem as if LBGT people can be accepted in Kenya”. The films were perceived as socially incorrect.
youtube
The reactions of these state boards highlight a reproduction of nationalist ideas that queer sexuality threatens African values. In thinking of these homophobic institutional reactions, it is important not to dismiss Africa as homophobic and primitive especially in relation to the West. In his book Kenyan, Christian, Queer, theology scholar Adriaan van Klinken explains that by considering Africa as backward and conservative there is a failure to reflect on the complex sociopolitical realities on the continent.
The upshot is that the legal measures of banning the films affected their circulation – both low budget films with seemingly limited distribution channels.
Viewers and festivals
Although Inxeba and Rafiki were banned in their home countries, they have received critical acclaim and numerous awards at film festivals the world over. In the case of Inxeba, there were vociferous threats and demonstrations, mainly by Xhosa-speaking men, who felt the film divulged the secrets of a sacrosanct ceremony.
The comments posted on social media platforms also make it possible to examine the reactions of viewers to the films. I illustrated this by focusing on the reactions expressed on Inxeba’s Facebook page. here’s a sample:
Reaction 1: “This is a disgrace to our culture…”
Reaction 2: “I didn’t like the story shame, I didn’t see the relevance. Sorry for being a party pooper.”
Reaction 3: “Thank you Lord … you have shown that you love us all regardless of what people are painting others to be, as if they do not belong or are just nothing.”
Using its YouTube page, Tuko TV Kenya interviewed Kenyans about Rafiki. Here is a sample of the diversity of views canvassed:
Reaction 1: “I think we are over exposing our children and our community … As a country, we are not ready for this.”
Reaction 2: “It’s a movie trying to include everybody into the society and bringing inclusion and diversity.”
Reaction 3: “I feel like the argument that it is influencing or promoting homosexuality to me feels ridiculous because that is not something that can be promoted.”
These reactions show that audiences are more complex than governments admit. Moreover, the reactions – and many others like them – prove that the films are popular social texts which operate to shape queer life and responses to it.
The screening of the two films (both were ‘unbanned’ on appeal – Rafiki for a brief period) has been important in initiating overdue conversations. Both films gesture towards the need for open discussion of queer sexualities and genders in Africa. They demand viewers to rethink not what it means to be queer in Africa, but what it means to be human.
Asking questions
Inxeba and Rafiki are invaluable additions to the growing corpus of African films courageously depicting queer lived experiences. Although initially banned, their reception by viewers in and outside Africa has shown that they can start conversations on diverse social issues relating to non-normative African gender and sexual identities.
Through evoking emotions of discomfort, the films compel audiences to question their own views and biases on gender and sexual identities. The films thus have the capacity to subvert homophobic tendencies embodied in state responses.

Chapter 8
Jumping down the tunnel I threw my hands into the air and my smile never faltered. “You did it,” the voices said and I could even hear the smiles in those voices. I nodded and was taken to where the awards would be held. “You did it yourself” I raised an eyebrow as I walked. “You left that form” I stopped in my tracks and looked down to my hands and shook my head “All by yourself” those two words that I thought controlled my life were just sitting there like they were nothing “It’s him, grounded” I flushed.
“Bakugou is not an anchor he's a friend” I whispered looking down to the floor, he was just a friend, he was a friend, he was a friend...I wished he was more. A gasp left my lips as I stood and shook my head. “Fuck” I whispered licking my lips.
I continued to walk and, needing to get underground for the awards. I went down the steps slowly “Scared” the voices whispered and I sighed out, I wasn’t scared of this feeling, I was utterly terrified, he did not feel the same. We were friends and I wasn’t going to ruin that.
I walked into the room keeping my head low as I walked up to the podium and waited, I just had to wait. Bakugou and Todoroki walked in shortly after and took their places, not one spoke, no one moved. We all just waited. I could hear Midnight talking and then we were being hoisted into the stadium, cheering and screams could be heard as I waited.
Their cheers were silent, the voices were silent, I couldn’t hear anything. I only stood on the podium and waited. I stood ahead as videos were played and people yelled and screamed as I stood and looked forward.
“Y/N, Y/N” I looked up seeing All Might with a tilted head and a smaller than normal smile “Are you ok” he whispered and I shook my head and smiled nodding. “You did a very good job today, I am very impressed with your growth” of course he was, he watched me grow, he watched me struggle and lose myself. Just as I was doing right now. “Here they are the winners of this year's sports festival” All Might called out with a smile as he turned to the audience. I stayed still, not moving and just standing there.
“Fear” I looked down and sighed out “People fear you” I cracked my neck and breathed a little heavier “Fear power” I swallowed thickly, my throat was so dry “Fear where you got those quirks” I felt my hands balled into fists and breathed out again. I noticed both Bakugou and Todoroki turned their hands to me. No one knew people had similar quirks all over the world, I’m sure there was someone who could control chains just like me, it was a normal quirk “Those chains” I grit my teeth “Your mother” I don’t have a mother, I had two amazing and loving fathers who rescued me. “That board in your chest” I grit my teeth more “Your father” no one knew about either of them, only Dad and Pa knew, they saved me. They are my family “Fear you” it was a scary quirk, it was unusual and unusual quirks are scary that’s normal. I heard a hum close to my ear “Will protect you” I knew they would “No one will hurt you again” I felt my chest burn and sighed out slowly, I looked down and saw the scars “In here, with you, a part of you” I swallowed.
I wasn’t listening and soon this was over and I was practically running away from the podium and into the tunnels, I was running faster. I was running upstairs and around corners, I couldn’t breathe, where my parents were. I was running faster, my chest burned. I knew they were trying to help but I was scared, I shouldn’t have shown my quirk off, I should have just lived with it and then lost. I could have won without it, I shouldn’t have done the festival. I was running faster, my breathing uneven and I slammed the door to the box open just as Dad and Pa were closing down all the speakers.
“Y/N What’s wrong?” I ran into Dads’ chest wrapping my arms around his waist and I could feel the tears coming to my eyes, I wasn’t a villain. I didn’t do villainous things, I was human, I was good. I was going to be a hero. I did want to be a hero. I felt his arms wrap around me and my legs gave out as I fell and he fell with me. I was good, being a villain isn’t genetic. It doesn’t matter what they did, I was innocent. I was just a baby, both of my parents are heroes. “I have to go to class but take her home, I’ll have Midnight give me a lift” I was pried from Dad’s arms and picked up by Pa as I cried into his neck.
We walked out and I could hear the talking stopped as we passed and went downstairs. I was a teen, I shouldn’t have my Pa carrying me around. “It’s ok Princess” I cried harder. This was meant to be a proud moment, I was meant to feel good, so why was I crying my eyes out as I shook.
We came to stop and I felt a hand come to my hair “I’ll be home in a few hours ok, Pa’s going to take you home” I felt a kiss come to my head and I felt more tears rise, “It’s ok, I’ll bring home some dinner” the hand left my hair and then we were walking away.
“Come on Princess, my car is in the parking lot” once at the car, I was placed in and bulked up, Pa smiled and put his jumper over me as I looked forward and soon we were off driving but everything just seemed to pass, I wasn’t computing anything, I wasn’t getting anything. Nothing was going through my brain, I wasn’t picking up anything. Once home I was picked up out of the car and then we walked up the stairs to the house and then I was placed onto the couch, it was soft. A blanket swapped for the jacket “I’ll make some food, you’ve had a long day” I stared forward “I’ll put on a show” Pa whispered and kissed my head as a show was put on as I just stared at the TV.
I sat in silence as my eyes just stared at the screen and then I felt a lightweight pull on the blanket, my eyes turned and I saw a small black cat looking at me. I looked at the animal made of fluff as he came to sit in my lap. Cats always had a thing with sensing stress and anxiety. My hand pet along with the fluff as I stared at the cat. The other two came and joined me on the couch, white and ginger. We didn’t have creative names, Coal, Snow and Ginger, it fit the look and we usually just called them the baby.
They all sat around my lap as I sat in the corner of the couch even though there was space to put my legs out I kept them crossed, Coal was in my lap after all. Snow sat next to my hip and Ginger in front of me with her head on my leg. I smiled, it didn’t reach my eyes but it did make me feel a little better. I wasn’t paying attention to the show, only the cats. I just wanted to feel their warmth. Coal was my cat, Snow for Dad and Ginger for Pa, but right now they all paid attention to me.
“Oh they seem to be in a good mood today, Ginger never sits with me anymore,” Pa said sadly and placed himself on the couch a small bowl placed on the table of my favourite noodles “Eat when you’re ready” he smiled and I looked back down to the cats and started paying attention to the show that was on.
I was watching and then the door was opening yet the cats never moved from their spots on me and the couch. “Hey” Dad spoke softly and kissed my head “I haven’t ordered yet, finished earlier than expected, but I’ll order something in an hour or so” I nodded “Mic I have some groceries, care to help” we all knew that meant he had no choice and so Pa left me and the cats.
Aizawa P.O.V
Walking into the house it felt gloomy, not right. It wasn’t right, it wasn’t ok. I saw Y/N on the couch and as I looked down I could see all the cats laying around her but what I noticed more was the uneaten food in the bowl on the table, she never missed out on those noodles, something was wrong. Walking into the kitchen with Mic he sighed out and ran his fingers through his hair.
“She’s been sitting there since we got home, she hasn’t said anything and is just looking at the TV like it’s the most boring thing in the world. I don’t know what’s wrong, we shouldn’t have let her participate today” Mic’s hands left his hair and fell beside him “What did I miss” he sighed.
“I don’t know, the cats never get together. The class asked where she was and I just had to say she wasn’t feeling well. Bakugou and Todoroki didn’t believe it, I think something happened before the awards ceremony” I looked down and shook my head not quite knowing what to do. “I saw she didn’t eat,” I added.
Mic shook his head sadly “No she didn’t, she’s just staring at the TV or the cats” he shook his head again “On the way home she just stared out the window like she wasn’t present and I even had to carry her to the house. It’s like she's shut down” I looked down and pushed my hair back at my husband's words.
“It’s the first time she came back without help, Bakugou's fight, she was so focused on winning that she just did it. Did something happen” I whispered and swallowed as I began to put away the food, not needing help? I needed to talk to my husband. Mic nodded. “Let’s just spend some time with her, they have two days off to regroup and get all their strength back. I think she needs it” Mic nodded again.
“Fear” we both perked up at those words, it was that voice that always spoke when we were playing games and couldn’t find her. Those voices that continuously spoke to her. “Fear of the audience” I was confused, what was this voice talking about. A small laugh was heard and I felt uneasy “People noticed the quirk, who it’s from” my eyes went wide as I looked at Mic. Her biological parents, the villains that left her to be killed so they could getaway. “She is quite upset” I looked down, she had always been self-conscious of that quirk. “Noticed the fear of power” I nodded and understood. “She wants pancakes” I let out a laugh and nodded “With syrup”
I walked out to the lounge room “Y/N” her head turned as she looked, eyes blank and hand mindlessly petting the black cat happily sleeping in her lap. “I was thinking instead of takeaway for dinner since you won. What about pancakes” her face slowly widened into a very small smile but it was there.
“I’d like that” she whispered, her voice so small and quiet but I nodded. “With syrup” she added her eyes filling with a little colour. She hasn’t been like this in quite a while but with those words from that voice. I knew what was wrong with her, she was in a state of shock. Her past may never leave her but I hope she can move on at some point.
I nodded “With syrup” then I walked off back into the kitchen to make those pancakes, with syrup. When walking in I saw Mic getting the ingredients ready and on the bench.
“It’s time to get these pancakes ready” he sang into the air with a wide smile and breathed out. “Let's get this party started” I nodded and smiled with a light kiss to his lips.
Y/N P.O.V
It felt strange, I hadn’t felt this way in quite some time. The numbness that comes from shock and realisation. I regret going into the sports festival, I regret the looks and beating hearts. I regret the fact that both my parents probably knew what was going on. I had no idea what I was meant to do but I just sat and pet the cats. I felt my pocket vibrate and moved to grab my phone, unlocking it and my eyes adjusted to the message. I stared at the message for a solid minute just trying to focus on the words.
“Where were you after the festival?” those were the words my eyes slowly drifted to the name of the sender, who sent that. Someone from my class? A teacher, who was it. I stared at the message and my eyes adjusted to the name “Bakugou” I nodded slowly. Bakugou, Bakugou messaged me.
My fingers moved slowly to reply “Not feeling the best” I couldn’t tell him my feelings sent me into a spiral of my abandonment issues and people hating me due to some trying to connect dots. Maybe no one had even heard of my biological parents, perhaps no one realised but what if they did.
“Aizawa seemed off when people asked” it was almost instant, he was fast at typing and always had been yet I didn’t want to comment. I sighed out, how was I meant to explain this. My feelings for him rose and when they bubbled over all my past regrets bubbles with it. I regretted my feelings, why wouldn’t I? We were fine just being friends.
“I cried after the awards, just a lot going on” maybe that would deter him, people crying always seemed to bug him, maybe he would just regret his choices and send simple messages of him saying ok and then not messaging again.
“You looked stressed at the awards, what’s wrong?” I shook my head, of course, he would ask that of course, he knew what I was talking about. Of course, he sensed my problems, he hadn’t figured it out yet though.
“Just some past issues rose, I’ll be fine in a few days” these issues usually lasted a few days and then fizzled into nothing as I simply came to terms with them. Bakugou was great at everything even just talking, he was amazing.
“Do you want to talk?” I stared at those messages in that little box for quite some time, far too long for anyone's liking, it was far too long. I was sure he too was thinking the same thing.
“Not yet” I answered, I doubted I’d ever burden him with my problems but this way he knew I didn’t want to talk about it right now and that he would have to wait until I’m ‘ready’ even though my whole life I doubt I would even talk to my parents about it. I wanted to tell them, I wanted to tell them all my problems but whenever I tried I always changed the topic and moved on quickly.
“Ok, message me later if you need” I smiled even if it was only a twitch of my lip on a normal day I would be smiling ear to ear. My hands were shaking as I slowly typed out a response, The autocorrect was the only reason he got a reply as I shook.
“I will, thank you Bakugou” my phone was placed down to my side and I saw Snow look up and then moved to lay on my phone. I didn’t know if she was doing it so I didn’t have to look at the phone or because she liked the heat of the phone. Either way, I was thankful for the screen and the device itself was out of my sight.
I continued to pet Coals back as Dad and Pa made dinner for the three of us. I had no idea what I was meant to do now. Coal let out a purr and I smiled down to the fluffball as Ginger wiggled his way onto his back and went back to sleep. My eyes dragged to the TV with the show still playing. I'm sure a few episodes ahead from where we started.
“Talk to dad” the voice whispered like a breeze running through a meadow, small and quiet but could be felt through a shiver “Talk to Pa” I looked down again. I don’t think I was able to tell them my problems just yet, they knew most by just living with me but the constant thoughts and fear of abandonment were starting to get to me. I knew my biological parents were villains but my biological mother carried me and birthed me only to leave me as a way to distract the authorities. When I was young I didn’t care she was a villain, she was my mother but now I wanted nothing to do with her and if I met her I doubt I’d be able to hold myself back from ripping her apart. She left an innocent and helpless baby as a last resort to getting away. I loathed her, I loathed him. I loathed them both. I loathed their quirks and hated them both more than life itself. “They love you” they do, they took me in when I had nothing. I was young and sick, so very sick and yet through all my life, they stayed with me even the first time my quirk came to be.
-
All I knew was that I was screaming, I was screaming and had fallen to the living room floor clutching my chest in pain. Tears falling from my eyes, then came the running footsteps.
“Y/N, Y/N what's wrong” I was screaming when Dad ran over his eyes went wide “Call Recovery Girl and Midnight” I couldn’t hear the response but I was still screaming and crying. “Y/N let me see, let me see what's the wrong baby” I moved my hands though they were now red and I could feel liquid falling from my chest. What was happening, I was only four, I didn’t know what was going on. “Arms up” I put my arms up and he was quickly pulling my wet shirt off me and throwing it to the side. His eyes were wide and breathing quick. “Look at me baby” I met his eyes as my breath quickened. I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t think. I was only a baby, I didn’t understand these things.
His hands were wiping my chest and as he looked around, I didn’t understand at the time but he was trying to wipe the blood away. I was drenched and he was trying to see how I had hurt myself though he didn’t find any cuts but something embedded into my skin.
Soon Midnight and Recovery Girl were running in with All might hot on their tale having brought them I guessed. I was scared and my tears continued as I cried and screamed at the top of my lungs, I didn’t understand the pain and I didn’t understand this would one day be my quirk.
“Oh my god” Midnight ran over and held my small body in her arms as her quirk took over my breathing room and I was knocked out soon after. My last view was my Dad covered in blood with Mic running in and Midnight holding my small body tight to her chest as the purple mist swirled around.
-
That memory never left my mind, I looked down at those scars, all the pain they had caused all the sleepless nights of souls trying to get in the board, how scared they all were. I saw my first spirit at the age of four and a half. Only two months after my blood bath incident. Then it only continued. I was judged in school as people would show up and help me in class or try and scare me with malice intent. I learnt to ignore the spirits who roamed around and only listen to voices. I kept my board open for those who wished to come and go.
“Hey, Princess, Pancakes ready” I was given a plate with cut-up pancake with syrup “I cut it up for you so the cats wouldn’t get angry” I nodded and took the fork from his other hand as I began to eat.
“Can Pa and I sit with you baby?” I nodded and we began to eat as I smiled, these were my parents, the ones who risked their lives and careers to take in a villain's child. They were here for me.
“Thank you for being my parents,” I whispered. ______________________________________________________________

Forgive Me (Not)
I started this fic to sort out my feelings for the Traitor!Uraraka theory and it spiraled from there. Can’t say if this is strictly platonic or not so I put it down as both. The M rating for this fic is just to be safe! I tried to portray some strong negative emotions and didn’t want to catch anyone unprepared for what’s to come. ^^”
Genre: Heavy Angst / Hurt/Comfort
Pairing: Kacchako/Gen
Rating: M
Word Count: 4821
Summary: They were two broken people standing at the edge of the unknown together.
When Bakugou emerged into consciousness, the knocking wasn’t what first got his attention. The soft shuffle of the curtains did. He hated this new oversensitivity. If only for a moment, his mind would return to the League’s gloomy bar; restrains digging at his shoulders; the faint smell of smoke and spilled alcohol assaulting his lungs with each breath. Three months later and it would always destroy his mood. After seeing the time was twelve minutes past four in the morning, a wave of anger washed over him too.
Who the fuck? He thought, throwing the covers aside.
The silhouette outside his window was too short to be his redhead neighbor. Bakugou tugged the sliding door open. Cold air rushed in the room with an evening fury befitting the beginning of winter, and the curtains parted to reveal Uraraka.
She took a step back, her eyes wide. “I… um… I’m really sorry, Bakugou! It was a mistake. I… I-I’ll leave now!” Turning around, she tried to walk away with the elegance of a robot.
“Take responsibility first, you moron.” He sighed, following her out on the balcony. “What are ya doing here?”
The freezing tiles nipped at his bare feet and he winced. Nothing he couldn't endure as long as it led to the bottom of this awakening. However, Uraraka made no attempt to face him as seconds came and passed. His toes were half-numb by that point, so Bakugou focused on her back instead. She wore their gym uniform and had her hair tied into a messy ponytail. This get-up was usually reserved for joining his combat training, and she hadn't been sporting it earlier.
“I messed up is all,” she finally said. “Thought it was Deku’s.”
“Deku’s room isn’t on this floor,” he said. “You know that already from following the nerd like a lost puppy all the time. So do me a favor and cut the crap.”
Maybe someone else would have had the patience to hear her out. It had been the day of Sir Nighteye’s funeral, after all. To brighten up the mood, the class had declared a movie night. They were all laughing by the time Bakugou returned to his room with Uraraka being her usual bubbly self. Even if it had been an act, she wouldn’t come to him for emotional support. He wasn’t her friend.
“It was an honest mistake. I’m sorry if I bothered you,” she said. Her tone wasn’t apologetic at all.
Dread dropped like a stone in Bakugou’s stomach. He suspected foul play but the League was on the run. They wouldn’t dare to infiltrate the school. His mind reminded him of a different scenario; one he had been contemplating over for the past few months.
On the third morning of his house arrest, after his big fight with Deku, Bakugou had been prepping for his chores when he heard voices coming from Aizawa’s room. Overcome by curiosity, he pressed his back against the wall and glanced inside. The laptop’s monitor illuminated two figures, leaving the rest of the room shrouded in darkness. Finding his homeroom teacher still awake wasn’t as surprising as Present Mic being there. He never visited this early.
“There is nothing unusual so far,” Aizawa said.
Present Mic yawned, stretching his back against the chair. “Everything is too quiet for my taste. Think they got scared, Eraser?”
“Or maybe they are laying low like the rest of the League.” He dragged a hand across his face with a groan. “I don’t want to suspect my students, Mic. They are all promising kids.”
“They also love getting into trouble. Picking a fight right under your nose, who would have thought! Must have been quite the show.”
“This isn’t a laughing matter. We don’t have room for slip-ups like that anymore. Everyone’s eyes are on us and we haven’t made any progress in locating the traitor. It was your idea so concentrate.”
Traitor.
The word caught Bakugou’s attention hook, line, and sinker. The teachers were suspecting one of them to be leaking information to the Villains. He edged closer to the door so he wouldn’t miss a thing.
“Yes, sir! Anyway, the problem children and the other four are not on the list.” Present Mic mumbled a couple of names, scratching them off the file in his lap. “Come to think of it, most of your girls have stealthy Quirks. Hagakure is invisible. Asui can climb walls. Jirou can hear through walls.”
“The conference hall is sound-proof and an invisible person would be too obvious for a mastermind like All for One.”
“Just because it’s obvious, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t consider it. Although, if we absolutely have to think outside the box…” His pen stopped mid-air. “I’d say Uraraka.”
“Why?” Aizawa asked with a perplexed tone.
“It wouldn’t cross your mind, right? She looks innocent enough. But you know how the saying goes: Don’t judge a book by its cover. Of all the kids, she’s the only one with a clear motive.”
“Lots of Pros are doing it for the money, and as far as I know, we already have a decent arrangement with her parents over the tuition.”
“Relax, it was only a guess.” Present Mic raised his hands in an appeasing gesture. “You are right though. Having to suspect every one of these little listeners sucks!”
Bakugou decided he had heard enough. Without a sound, he returned to sorting the cleaning supplies and feigned ignorance when Present Mic left for class. An unpleasant feeling spread inside his chest; the same thought circling at the back of his mind.
Was it really possible?
All this time, Bakugou hadn’t had the chance to voice his concerns. Major events had followed one another in an endless cycle of trouble and danger—everyone too busy to catch a breath, more so worry about inside affairs. Currently, this night was proving to be an unprecedented opportunity. One he wasn’t willing to miss. If Uraraka wouldn’t give him some straight answers, he would force them out by any means necessary.
“You know. Something has been bothering me for a while.” Keeping his hands leisurely in his pockets, Bakugou approached Uraraka. “During Kamino, you said to Kirishima and the other idiots that I’d feel disgraced if they came to help me.”
“I did.”
“How did you know that?”
Her shoulders tensed but she chuckled. “You aren’t very subtle about your dislikes.”
“You also said I’m scared of Deku after the end of the term.” Her words back then had cut straight through his walls of denial to the core of his issue with the nerd. No one—not even himself—had been really aware of it. “That was awfully perceptive of you.”
“You were on such bad terms when you’re supposed to be childhood friends. Can you blame my curiosity?”
“It felt more than simple curiosity. It’s like you were dissecting me to find what makes me tick.”
Uraraka turned around just as he stopped two steps away. “Deku does it too. Haven’t seen you confront him about it.”
Grabbing the veranda’s railing, Bakugou trapped her between his arms. “Deku has been studying me for years—a lost cause really. But you had no reason to do that.”
“Why?”
“It doesn’t suit your personality.”
“That's ridiculous!” She said, flustered. “C’ mon, you were so cool in our fight, Bakugou. Like a completely different person! I’d be blind if I didn’t wanna learn what sort of hero you want to be.”
“And what’s the final call?” he asked.
“You’re so arrogant that you’d look to satisfy your needs before anyone else’s.”
“Like you then? You’re in the money, aren’t you?”
“To help my parents.” Her brow furrowed in worry as if someone had presented her with a truth she didn’t want to hear. “What’s wrong with you?”
“Facepalm also said we are the same. Shackled by society’s expectations so we can’t do what we want. I wonder how he figured it out from a photo of the award ceremony.”
“What are you getting at?”
He leaned closer, leveling his gaze with hers. “You’re the mole, right?”
Lowering her head, Uraraka covered her face. Snuffles escaped from behind her hands. It caught him off guard, and Bakugou let go of the railing. For once he wanted to be wrong in his deduction. Learning about All Might’s secret had been enough of a blow. If the traitor turned out to be one of them, the class’ morale would plummet. He hated nothing more than to be responsible for it again.
But his half-baked apology died in his throat when it became apparent that Uraraka wasn’t bawling her eyes out.
She was laughing.
“I didn’t think it’d be that easy.” Uraraka climbed on the railing. Keeping her balance atop the metal bar, she shot him an icy glare. “Yes, it is me. What’re you gonna do about it?” She declared and dropped into the void below.
Bakugou jumped after her. His mind was blank, feeling nothing but the wild beating of his heart. The wind rushed past him. Aided by gravity, his body seemed eager to meet the ground. The fourth floor wasn’t such a great distance to cross. He propelled himself forward anyway and collided with Uraraka, wrapping his arms around her waist.
Their entangled bodies touched the ground without any rattling of bones or pain. Before Bakugou could get past the disorientating sensation of gravity returning, Uraraka elbowed him in the neck. Pain erupted in his gut from the follow-up knee. He tried to pin her down, but she slipped away like an eel.
“Come back here!” he growled.
Her laugh echoed all around them as she provoked him to follow. Uraraka dashed into the surrounding trees with Bakugou in tow. Leaves and branches crunched beneath his feet, splinters digging into his bare soles. Bakugou ignored the pain and kept running. Despite the cold, he was already drenched in sweat.
Uraraka maneuvered around the trees with ease; her back always a couple of steps ahead—taunting him. Oh, how much Bakugou wanted to grab her by the shirt and smash her face onto the ground. He could reach her; his hands had warmed up sufficiently from all the running. But he didn’t want a drone to alert the teachers like in his fight with Deku. So they continued their little chase, getting further and further away from the dorms. The white clouds escaping Bakugou’s mouth got more frequent as he strained himself to keep a good pace. By the looks of it, Uraraka also had trouble doing the same. Her ragged breath was the only sound resonating in the forest.
This pocket of darkness and silence didn’t last for long. Uraraka broke through the vegetation into an open area covered with concrete. Streetlamps illuminated the place as if it was some kind of boxing ring. Bakugou could faintly see the shape of a large wall up ahead. According to his calculations, they were close to either mock city A or mock city B. Drones were bound to be lurking there for sure.
This needs to end here.
Igniting his Quirk just enough to not arouse suspicion, Bakugou leaped over Uraraka. She didn’t stop, her eyes following his trajectory.
The moment his bare feet skidded on the concrete in front of her, Uraraka threw a left hook. Bakugou blocked it. He redirected the right one coming his way too. She had such an intense look on her face. Part of him, the rational one always working in the background during fights, noticed her flawless technique. Months of work paying off at the worst possible scenario.
There was something odd though. Sure, Uraraka aimed for his knees or his stomach—spots that would give her the advantage—but made no attempt to use her Quirk. It was as if this was a deliberate physical brawl and for one, Bakugou didn’t mind not using his Quirk. It would keep unwanted attention away.
“Why so cautious, Bakugou?” she asked. “Don’t you want to revenge? Come at me with all you got!”
Bakugou smacked an open palm on her collarbone. Instead of backpedaling out of breath, Uraraka pounced with a war cry. Wrapping her legs around his arm and shoulder, she dragged him to the ground. His back felt most of the impact. Bakugou didn’t let that stop him. Releasing his hand with an explosion, he elbowed Uraraka in the ribs. She had enough spark left to kick him. Bakugou allowed the leg to strike, using it to pull Uraraka under him.
His hands closed around her throat. The muscles in his forearms strained as Bakugou tightened his hold. Her pulse was beating wildly under his fingers, struggling to bring blood to her brain. Uraraka clawed at his hands. The choking sounds were replaced by a piercing whine. Bakugou barely felt her body contorting under him. He could blow her head to bits. Splatter blood all over the pavement. A single explosion was all he needed. That’s how frail human bodies were, even for a girl of her tenacity.
No.
Bakugou wouldn’t give Uraraka the benefit of a quick death. He’d watch as her walnut doe eyes grow unfocused and empty, life slipping out of them. He’d listen for the final breath when it escaped her cherry lips. He’d feel her heartbeat stopping while her rosy cheeks lose their color. Already Uraraka’s movements had gotten slower. She didn’t apply the same force as before. Disheveled hair fanned behind her head like a broken halo. And, to Bakugou’s surprise, Uraraka caressed his cheek; finger pads scraping roughly against his skin.
“Do it,” she mouthed.
A cold weight dropped in his chest as if someone had sucker-punched him there.
“Why did I have to be the reason for All Might’s end?”
Bakugou had screamed that at the top of his lungs while the stench of smoke and nitroglycerin still lingered in the air. His voice was echoing when Deku had lowered his fists, shocked. Bakugou couldn’t bear that expression and had continued to shout his frustration at the road beneath his feet.
Why am I remembering this now?
And then it hit him.
Oh.
His fingers relaxed their hold.
Uraraka coughed violently. Confusion flashed across her eyes as she watched him stand. Bakugou didn’t make it to ten steps before he heard the shuffling of her clothes.
“What…” Her voice cracked on the first word, volume lowering while she struggled to continue. “Are you… doing?”
“I can’t give you what you want.”
“Why?” She shouted—raw and strained like a raging tiger.
“I’m not a judge, nor an executioner. And definitely not your damn emotional punching bag!”
“So Deku wasn’t yours?”
Bakugou clenched his fists so tight he might as well had stopped his blood circulation. Releasing his fingers, he let a couple of small explosions sparkle in his palms like firecrackers. “I don’t try to repeat my mistakes,” he said.
“That’s rich!” Uraraka sneered. “You can sort your problems through violence and I can’t? Is this some kinda privilege only the brightest of our class have?”
“What’s happening right now and that situation are nothing alike!”
“Because it wasn’t your fault?” Uraraka whispered. “I didn’t want any of this, Bakugou. But my parents’ lives were in danger.”
It puzzled him because of a conversation he had happened to overhear a while ago. “Your parents don’t live here,” he said.
“They came to Tokyo once. To congratulate me after the Sports Festival and reassure me that I did my best in my fight against you and that they are oh so proud of me.”
Her laugh was hollow and emotionless, chilling Bakugou to the bone. He never thought Uraraka was even able to sound like that when she competed with Kirishima for the title of 1-A’s Sunshine.
He turned around to find her kneeling on the ground.
“But it was exactly that fight that caught Sensei’s eye,” she said with a sad smile, not meeting his gaze. “My parents had left for the station, and I had barely closed the front door when Mr. Kurogiri appeared behind me. The hallway was pitch black as if light couldn’t reach past his Warping. Had a rough idea where was his body from USJ but before I could do anything, he transported me to Sensei’s headquarters. He...” Uraraka rubbed her thumbs over the rest of her finger pads, struggling to find the right words to describe All For One.
“It’s okay,” Bakugou huffed and took a seat in front of her. “He has that effect on people.”
The bastard was a hundred years old and had survived against an All Might in his prime. If anything, All for One’s aura alone could bring grown-ass Heroes to their knees. Someone losing his words at his presence would be the least he could do.
“He congratulated me for my strategy and bravery. Said we could both gain from each other if I worked for him. I refused and Sensei… he… he smiled.” Her words came out strained as she seemed to relieve the memory. “Before I knew it, I was inside the Central train station. My parents stood at the platform, laughing about something I couldn’t hear from the noise of the crowd.” She sniffed. “A warp gate opened over their heads. It was a blind spot. The cameras would never see the gun that appeared through the gate. I tried to shout, warn my parents but instead, I started puking some sort of stinky mud and returned to Sensei.”
She didn’t have to say anything else. It was plain as day what was her answer to his proposal the second time around.
“What did he ask you to do?” he asked.
“The first part of the deal was gathering intel about U.A. and their plans. I couldn’t get inside the conference room no matter how much I tried. Thought it’d be easier to remember the layout of the teachers’ lounge and sneak in when they weren’t there.”
“That’s why you asked Present Mic to help you with your English homework so much.” It had been her go-to excuse whenever she was late for practice.
Uraraka nodded. “Lots of important documents were in their desks. If anyone saw me, I’d say I forgot something. I had timed-out every route to the office perfectly so it happened only a bunch of times.”
Bakugou shifted his position. This cold and calculating Uraraka didn’t sit right with him. “And what was the other part of the deal?”
“I had to keep an eye on you—the League’s most fitting candidate. Sensei said it shouldn’t be hard. Our fight had made me interesting in your eyes.”
Part of Bakugou wanted to deny this statement, but deep down even he could see a slimmer of truth. Uraraka had entered his life like a storm after the Festival. His failed internship with Best Jeanist was still fresh on his mind, so her approach had left him hesitant at first. She was Deku’s friend so why couldn’t she ask him to be her sparring partner? Having overheard Uraraka's reason to learn martial arts though, Bakugou had given her the benefit of the doubt. He also couldn’t wait to see how much she could grow. Their sparring sessions had been challenging and exciting since Uraraka always had a new trick up her sleeve. Over time, this change of pace had maybe lowered his defenses. It hadn’t brought them any closer though or so he told himself again and again and again. But Bakugou couldn’t prevent the sting of betrayal from piercing his heart anyway.
“You stuck to me like glue for the whole damn semester because of some psycho’s sick pet project. Great. Just fucking great.” Bakugou smiled, despite the disgust and horror tingling in his chest. “And when I was ready, you called the dogs to come and fetch me!”
“The only thing I knew was that someone would come and get you off the Camp. But they kidnapped Ms. Pixie Bob too.” Uraraka fisted the fabric of her pants to stop her hands from shaking. “And I couldn’t do anything about it! Just watch and hope no one dies! Yes, you were my mission, Bakugou. But somewhere along the line, I found more people to care about along with my parents. More people to lose, including you. That’s why said that to Kirishima. I didn’t want anyone else to get hurt!”
“There are Villains, Uraraka. Hurting people is what they do best.”
“Mr.Nighteye thought so too,” she said. “He became conscious as I was taking him to safety. He couldn’t control his Quirk and saw my future. He warned me that I won’t be able to save anyone if I continue down this path. For a moment, I thought about dropping him. He wouldn’t expose me if he was dead. I would just weep and blame myself for not being quick enough to the other Heroes. Easy peasy.” She sniffled, tears shining in her eyes. “Guess he didn’t remember a thing in the end. And I… I was relieved for a while. But today, when I saw his face again, everything flooded back and I couldn’t take it anymore...”
“So you came to me. The one guy ready to beat you bloody for what you’ve done.”
She chuckled softly. “I thought you’ll understand. What I didn’t expect was the great Bakugou Katsuki going easy on me.”
“That’s what you call this?” Bakugou scoffed. “Hate to break it to you, Round Face, but I didn’t wanna get in trouble for your sorry ass.”
Her posture seemed to shrink. “Then what I’m supposed to do?”
Bakugou placed his hands on her shoulders.
The trembling stopped as Uraraka lifted her head. She clenched her hands into fists, anticipating his next move. For what Bakugou had in mind to work, she needed to stand still. So he cupped her infuriating round face.
Uraraka stared back with wide eyes, seemingly out of breath.
Bakugou head-butted her.
Rivulets of pain ran along his forehead from the point of impact. Uraraka’s skin was warm against his own as if she had a fever. White spots were dancing across her face like a myriad of stars. When the image cleared up, he noticed how a few golden specks adorned her hazel eyes.
“What’s wrong with you?” Uraraka shoved him and folded in two, holding her forehead.
Bakugou mouthed the question and anger flared in his chest. ”What’s wrong with you? Weren’t you the one who refused to back down in our fight no matter what?” For once, he managed to keep his tone down and still sound angry enough to consider it shouting. “Didn’t you go through all this shit to keep your parents safe? You wanna be a Hero, right? Then face your problems head-on!”
“You are one to talk,” she said. “Mr. I-can't-understand-emotions.”
“You woke me up in the middle of the night for this shit. Don’t sass me, okay?” he said. “Look, all I’m saying is that every fucking idiot in this class is gonna support you. They are persistent like that.”
“Why would they? I hurt them! Put everyone in danger! And you got kidnapped because-“
“Don’t you dare finish that sentence.”
“But-“
“The info you gave them would be useless if I didn’t act that way in the first place!” Admitting this shocked him, but he didn't stop. “I realized it during the press conference. Those leeches used my behavior to bring U.A. down. Facepalm tried to use that as a way to convince me too. I was never going to join their stupid clique. Our goals were different. But it made me think.” Bakugou stared at his hands. “All my life everyone told me that my Quirk is a Hero’s one. I never doubted that fact even when I all I could do was destroying. But the Quirk itself isn’t what makes someone a Hero. It’s how and for what purpose you use it. I wouldn’t have learned that if things had stayed the same.”
Uraraka grabbed his wrists, forcing his attention on her. “You would! There are other ways to learn that without almost dying!” Her hold got weaker. “I can’t… forgive myself for doing this to you.”
Bakugou stared back. Tears dropped on their joined hands like the beginning of a summer storm. “I can’t forgive you, Uraraka,” he said.
Her head shot up as if he had slapped her, the soft edges of her face twisting into a sorrowful expression. “I understand,” she said.
“No, you don’t,” he grumbled. “You’re my rival, dammit! You shouldn’t let those weirdos that call themselves Villains give you value. That asshole sure talks big for with a hand on his face!”
“Technically, I was under Sensei’s orders.”
“All the more reason to not give a shit now! He is behind bars, leaving Facepalm in charge.”
It wasn’t as simple as he was making it sound. Shigaraki was dangerous with or without his teacher around. For one, he was still on the loose even after attacking an armored convoy and two, his twisted drive to take down All Might still haunted Bakugou’s nightmares.
Uraraka closed her eyes. “It’s not that easy.”
“Yeah. But if there is hope for a bastard like me, there is hope for you too.” He stood up, dragging her along. “C’ mon, we gotta tell the teachers.”
“No, we can’t!” She shook her head, vigorously. “What if Sensei has more moles inside U.A.?”
Bakugou rolled his eyes. “Aizawa would rather die than work for scum like All for One and you know it. If he can defend the most-fitting-to-be-a-Villain on national TV, he can listen to what you have to say.”
Uraraka rubbed her neck; blue imprints from his fingers had already formed against her pale skin. “What about you, Bakugou? Why help someone that hurt you?”
Sure, saving people without any rewards was more of Deku’s style. Bakugou had never considered another person’s feelings until he had to go through All Might’s retirement. Still, he wasn’t angry at her anymore. He was angry at those fuckers for their underhanded methods and having the nerve to use her family like this, but not at Uraraka.
“The number Hero wins and rescues,” he said. “Can’t be slacking here if that’s my goal, right?”
Color returned to her cheeks and Uraraka hummed in agreement.
They used the road to return in the dorms.
By the time Bakugou could see 1-A's Height Alliance building, his body was showing signs of their fight. Pain pooled around his ankles and forearms in constant subdued drumming. Resisting the urge to wince whenever gravels dug into the bare soles of his feet, Bakugou kept Uraraka in his line of vision. Just to make sure she won’t disappear. He was definitely not paying attention to how she clenched and unclenched her hands in front of her.
The cold marble steps of the entrance and the relief they offered didn’t last long. Bakugou and Uraraka crossed the lounge in silence. Up ahead, a blue light glowed from underneath the closed door of Aizawa’s room—signaling their teacher was still awake.
Bakugou raised his hand to knock.
“Wait,” Uraraka said.
A bruise had started taking shape on her forehead. It diverted Bakugou’s attention, making him wonder for a moment if they should put ice on it. Then he caught her uncertain stare.
“Told you there is nothing to worry,” he said. “Don't run on me.”
“That's not it.” Her voice remained steady for the first time that night. “Can you come with me?”
“Why?”
“I don't know if I can do this again." She looked down. "Would you mind lending me some of your strength?”
The universe sure liked laughing at his face in the most ironic ways. She had held onto this secret for so long and after so many hardships while he was still trying to fill in the gaps of his shattered pride and arrogance with more meaningful things. Bakugou wished to have a word with the one responsible for his fate and blast their face to smithereens.
“Fine,” he said. “But only because I wanna see this to the end.”
Uraraka smiled, brightening the room as if the sun had decided to rise early. “Can I hold your hand?”
“If you ask me another damn thing, I'm throwing you inside without a word.”
Bakugou clasped her hand and allowed her to lace their fingers. The contact made him hyper-aware of her slight trembling but he didn’t comment on it.
Uraraka took a deep breath, restoring her game-on face. Yeah, it pissed him off at how lightly she believed in her own strength.
He knocked, letting the chips fall where they may.
They were two broken people standing at the edge of the unknown together, and damn if they wouldn’t try their hardest to set this right.

The VMAs performances had gone perfectly. After all the hard work and the rehearsals him and Hayden had: it paid off tonight. He also got to take home another Moonman for Best Rock song, yet, even after all the success that happened today, things didn’t feel quite right at all. To call Veronica last night was a drunken mistake, nostalgia and alcohol are never a good combo and Veronica was right when she told him he’d regret it in the morning. But what he truly regretted wasn’t necessarily calling, but lying to Aubrey about it. When she asked him about it in the morning, he was vague, saying an old friend asked to be called. He didn’t want to hurt her, not in NYC: the city that meant so much to them. Not during their first trip as a couple, being back at his place being official, their first award show together. But apparently lies can be worse than the truth, even if it was for protecting someone you loved, Danny was learning it the hard way.
He hadn’t been able to spend much time with her given this day was all about preparing for the ceremony and the performances ahead. The actual place of it all being New Jersey, approximately a thirty minute drive away from home. Aubrey later joining them on the red carpet. At first Danny wanting to believe she was coming off as closed off because she was camera shy, then at the event, maybe she didn’t let loose a lot cause there were a lot of strangers around. The brief texts they shared were pretty cold and the only few pictures that got taken of them was cause a camera man asked for it and they couldn’t say no. He couldn’t stop fooling himself anymore, something was clearly wrong and he knew exactly the reason why. And he couldn’t blame her. He hadn’t been honest and therefore he hadn’t been a good boyfriend lately. Last time they addressed Veronica and he confessed she hurt him it was also vague, so it was time she learned the actual truth. After Aubrey having to hear the press bugging him all day long about Veronica and what happened there. Outside his place, at the red carpet... the questions and the rumors where all around, yet Aubrey was trying to hold it together and it wasn’t fair for her.
After the ceremony they headed with the Jonas Brothers to party at their place, New Jersey boys and really good friends of Danny. They all just wanted to celebrate their big night. Aubs was distant, as expected. Not even having Joe Jonas around made her have the same joyful reaction back when they first met them together when he got them VIP passes for their Atlanta reunion show last week. She excused herself to the bathroom that was upstairs, Danny told her he’d wait for her but when she got lost, he followed her. Making sure the room next to the bathroom was actually empty so they could talk there. He waited for her to be done, that’s when he intercepted her. “We... really need to talk”, he added, the music was loud but it felt faded out at a distance given they were on the second floor. You could hear people screaming and laughing and having fun, but not here, not them. It was gloomy, the sadness in his gaze was evident, the nervousness in his voice too. No pet names, no names, just cold wording. “Please, let’s go inside so we can do it”, he gestured as he opened the door of the available empty room.

Baby’s Breath [pt. 7]
Pairing: Jungkook x reader Genre: angst / fluff /smut Wordcount: 5k Warning: drama, profanities, cute baby fluff Plot: Sometimes one reckless night is all it takes to completely turn your life upside down. But what if you can’t even trust your best friends to keep your secret? a/n: after an eternity I finally managed to finish this chapter. wow. I’m sorry! I hope anyone still reads this )): and like a broken record, I want to thank @jaxonah for constantly bugging me to write. Sammy, you are an angel. ily 💖
Jin looked up into one of the ceiling lights, trying to distract himself from Namjoon pacing up and down in front of the studio door, making him feel more on edge than he already did. “You know, I always thought they should change all the lights to a more warm toned white…” “Huh? What did you say?” Namjoon looked at the eldest in confusion when he finally stopped in his tracks. “The lights…it would look a lot more welcoming and friendly if they were a warmer color…” They both looked at the other before chuckling. “The stuff that goes on inside your head sometimes, hyung!” “Better than you running up and down the corridor like a madman.” Neither of them spoke; for hours they had been contemplating whether they were doing the right thing. They loved Jungkook and would do anything for him with no hesitation but it wasn’t just his life that was at risk. All of them would be affected by this if word got out; knowing that paparazzi could be following them at all times. They were on top of their game right now and it could end their career. Maybe not on an international scale but the fans in their own country weren’t so forgiving at times, especially when it came dating scandals, despite this being worse than any rumor they had to face before. Jin could already picture the headlines BTS break up, BigHit Entertainment kicks out Jungkook, BTS betray their loyal fans. Goosebumps crept down his neck and onto his back, making him shiver. They would all have to live with the consequences, no matter what would be decided in that room today.
The door opened and he heard their bosses voice, telling them to come in. Jin’s heart felt heavy, as he finally got his unsteady legs to move. Jungkook looked so happy this morning, he had been all over y/n, holding her hand, kissing her; even in front of them, like he had no care in the world. He was himself again; the happy boy — that had been absent ever since she broke his heart all those months ago.
Following Namjoon, he sat down on the small black leather sofa, while their boss was leaning back in his pompous chair. “What is it you wanted to talk about? It sounded urgent. Do you have trouble with writing?” Jin’s mouth felt unusually dry but his hands were clammy and he tried wiping them on his jeans. He didn’t know where to start; now that they were here it all felt so wrong. Why didn’t he stay five more minutes at the cafe? Why did he dawdle on his way to the restaurant? If he had just walked a little faster, he wouldn’t have bumped into her and certainly, he wouldn’t have looked twice passing her in the street. Looking back it was all his fault that they were in this predicament in the first place; it was all on him. Everything would be just fine if it wasn’t for him running into her; they’d be preparing their new album and practicing the performances for the end of year award ceremonies that were scheduled. Instead, they were scared of what the future might bring; taking away the newfound happiness of their youngest brother. Being the oldest Jin knew that it should be him taking full responsibility and speaking up about the concerns they shared but he couldn’t. His eyes were fixated on his knees as he desperately looked for the right words to say but no words were good enough to stop the feeling of guilt spreading in his limbs. “No, writing is going well…” Namjoon’s voice sounded like he was far away and echoed in his head. Not only was he worried about their career but what it would do to Jungkook when everything would be taken away from him once again. It still pained him when he thought about the weeks after she had broken up with Jungkook; he had been nothing but a picture of misery. His professional side had kicked in during schedules but Jin remembered all too well the nights he had heard him cry in his room, trying to hide his struggle of coming to terms with losing the girl he loved, thinking it was his fault that she left him. He had been functioning like a robot, the eyes that usually held so much life in them looked empty and sad. Jin was certain that they were just seconds away from making a big mistake, making history repeat itself. “Jin?” A hand softly rested on his arm, brutally ripping him out of his thoughts. He swallowed down the big lump and cleared his throat. “I- we wanted to…” He trailed off, trying to find the right words in the jumbled, conflicted mess in his head. “I’m sorry, I can’t.” Furiously he tried blinking away the tears that were trying to escape from his eyes, sucking in his bottom lip to stop it from trembling. They were about to do the thing that would forever break the tight-knit bond between them. “What is going on?” His pupils followed the shiny silver pen his boss was skillfully twirling between his fingers. “It’s about Jungkook…” Namjoon spoke up, his voice was shaking like he had lost all confidence that this was the right decision but after all, he was the leader - the one who handled all matters and worries of the group. Jin leaned back, lowering his head, letting his bangs cover his eyes; feeling guilt and shame rushing through his veins. “He said, he wanted to talk to me this afternoon. Is that why you are here now?” Namjoon nodded his head, his lips tightly pressed together. “Y/n is back in Seoul…Jungkook knows about your deal with her. They have seen each other twice as of now.” It was the calm before the storm; Sihyuk’s face was contorted into a grimace that Jin couldn’t decipher; just waiting for the inevitable blow to happen, like an explosion that would kill them instantly. But he simply swung around in his office chair and directed his attention to the computer screen. “So that’s why he asked to speak to me…interesting.” “Yeah, we think he wants y/n and their daughter to stay here so they can be a family.” The leader paused, anxiously fiddling with his phone. “It could cause a lot of damage if anyone finds out…we’re just worried, Sir. Please don’t tell him we came to you.” He hung his head in shame for going behind his little brothers back. “But we thought that you needed to know and get him to see the situation objectively.” Jin winced when Sihyuk huffed before looking at them. “There’s always something new to worry about. Not one day goes by where I don’t have to do damage control.” “Don’t be mad at him; he’s young and naive - he doesn’t understand how bad…and potentially dangerous the situation actually is.” “You two should leave; I still have some work to do.” They both nodded and left the room; the door fell shut and it was like Jin allowed himself to breathe for the first time since entering. Usually, the feeling of fresh air flooding his lungs was always comforting to him but the tight feeling in his chest was only slowing disintegrating into a bad feeling that hovered over his head like a nimbus brewing up a storm. “This wasn’t too bad though, I expected him to yell at us too.” The younger one said quietly as they were walking down the hallway but there was a hint of uncertainty tainting his statement. “I’m not sure this was the right thing to do anymore. Maybe we should have talked to Jungkook first.” Jin admitted, feeling regretful at their fast decision making without considering all options. “We have to look at the bigger picture, hyung. This is not just about what Jungkook wants. He can’t just do whatever he wants when it affects all of us. This is not about him buying new workout equipment or picking up a new hobby for the sixth time this year; this is a terrible situation that could ruin everything we’ve worked so hard for over the years. We’re in this too now, we know he’s going to try to get what he wants and I think Sihyuk-nim is the only one who can knock some sense into him.” “I hope you’re right.” The black haired one muttered under his breath while repeatedly pressing the elevator button. * Jungkook couldn’t remember the last time he felt truly happy until now. It must have been a long time ago since the past months were just a gloomy blur in his memory. But all the doom and gloom didn’t matter anymore - the only thing that mattered to him were his girls.
He checked his watch; he was right on time and fished his little Naruto flash drive from his pocket before knocking on the milky tinted glass-door. “Hello.” He said, a beaming smile on his face while bowing slightly as he approached the desk. Sihyuk didn’t respond - eyes resting on his computer, as he sat down in one of the plush chairs for visitors. Nervously Jungkook plopped the cap of his flash drive on and off again. Until one of office staff members entered to place a folder on the desk; usually she always made jokes with him and sometimes she made cookies for everyone, reserving the biggest one with the most icing and sprinkles for him, but today she didn’t even look at him; keeping her head low. “So, what brought you here?” Sihyuk reached for the file and opened it, flicking through the papers. “I wanted to run something by you…” Jungkook began, squeezing the little Naruto in his hand, eager to show him the video he had been working on until two days ago. “I think, I know what this is about…” “You do? Who told you?” He was confused; the members had promised him not to tell anyone about his video project until he was done. “That’s not important…” He put the file down, eyeing the boy sitting across from him carefully. He looked small, hands nervously clutching something he couldn’t recognize. “Jungkook, I’m just going to say this once and I don’t want any backtalk. We all just want what’s best for you, do you understand?” He nodded, despite not understanding what this was about. “It was brought to my attention, that you have been in contact with y/n…” Jungkook’s body froze up, his heart was hammering against his ribs like he had just run a marathon while his stomach felt like someone had punched him with all their might. How did he know? It had only been two days since he saw her again after all this time. No one knew that she was back in his life, no managers, no staff members, only his hyungs. “Jungkook? Is that true?” Slowly he nodded his head; his fist tightly clenched around the little gummy figure in his hand. His mind circling around the question of how he knew about his secret. When the realization began to sink in that only one of his brothers could have betrayed him. He just couldn’t imagine one of them ratting him out to their boss; he loved them all but he felt the cracks in his trust getting bigger and bigger by the second. “You won’t see her again! I’m not going to let this one mistake ruin your career. We all want what’s best for you and you’re too young to know what the right thing is in this situation.” He hated himself for sitting in this chair and letting someone else decide on how he had to live his life; deciding who he was allowed to have a relationship with - feeling like a child getting scolded by his father. But Jungkook knew better than to speak up or raise his voice at the man who made all his dreams come true, even when his body was shaking in anger.
“She signed a contract; you two are not allowed to see or be in contact with each other.” He reached for the file, flipping it open again. “I’m generous and I will let her off the hook this one time since it’s the first time this happened. But if you two see each other again, I will stop the financial aid she has been receiving.” “You cannot do that.” He blurted out. “Please don’t.” His eyes were swimming in tears; tears that were filled with so much anger and resentment that he didn’t know he was capable of feeling. But he wouldn’t be weak in front of the man who treated him like a dumb child who wasn’t able to make his own decisions. “I won’t unless you break the rules again. I’ve been kind enough to let you date in the past, although it clearly states in your contract that you’re not allowed to. And this is how you repay me? I expect an apology from you. ” Jungkook sarcastically huffed under his breath; he did not owe him anything. He was responsible for the months of suffering he endured from his broken heart which was now on the verge of breaking all over again. “I’m sorry, it won't happen again.” His voice was shaking as he tried his best to sound sincere but he couldn’t bring himself to look him in the eyes, afraid he might lose it and lunge at him. “Well then, you can go now. Sejin will keep an eye on you from now on.” Without another word, Jungkook stood up, turned around and headed for the door. He had a bone to pick with his brothers; they weren’t going to get away with this. “Oh, one thing…” He stood still, his hand on the door handle when he heard Sihyuk’s voice. “She’s cute, your daughter, she looks just like you.” His stomach was pulling itself together, leaving a cramp-like feeling behind. His hand was shaking when he pulled the door open. He wanted so badly to turn around and just ram his fist into the face of the man who caused him all this pain. His breath was unsteady walking down the hallway; everything just felt so wrong now. The most important people in his life, the ones who raised him, taught him everything he knew, who all implanted parts of themselves in him, betrayed him - ratted him out like he was scum they didn’t want to have anything to do with. His footsteps seemed to echo louder than usual from the walls as he approached the living room where he’d find the people he once called his brothers, the people he trusted with his life until today. He stood in the doorway, watching them sit on the couch and the floor, all gathered around the coffee table - talking to each other like nothing happened. It made his blood boil in anger; his teeth dug into his bottom lip as he loudly closed the door behind him. “Ah- Jungkookie we ordered dinner and we’re watching a movie. Come sit.” Hoseok held out the takeout box he was eating from and patted on the sofa cushion next to him. Before he knew what he was doing, his hand had knocked the box from Hoseok’s hand and onto the floor, tinting the cream-colored carpet red. “What the hell?” All of them stared at him in disbelief. “What’s gotten into you?” “Which one of you ratted me out?” He spat. “Who went behind my fucking back and told Sihyuk that y/n was here?” There was no need for formal language anymore when he had lost all respect for all of the people closest to him. “Jungkook-ah, calm down, you know none of us would do that. We’re glad you’re happy again.” Jimin said, an encouraging smile on his face. Jungkook blinked; unsure whether it was a genuine smile or if he was a traitor like the rest of them. “Then fucking explain to me why he just told me I’m not allowed to see her ever again?!” Jimin swallowed hard; he seemed confused as did the others who were quietly observing his every move. “I don’t know Kookie, I don’t know how he would know about you and y/n.” “You were the only ones who knew so, you must have told on me. Fuck! I trusted all of you, I was so fucking stupid.” He cried out, fists clenched so tightly that his knuckles were turning white. “WHO WAS IT? TELL ME!” He demanded loudly, his voice firm. He wasn’t going to let them get away with this. “Jk, it wasn’t us. Go to the gym and blow off some steam then we can talk about your accusations.” “SHUT THE FUCK UP YOONGI.” He spat out like a snake attacking its prey with its venomous fangs. From the corner of his eyes, he saw Taehyung flinch and Jimin immediately pulling his best friend into a comforting hug. He wanted to hurt them like they hurt him. Rip their hearts out and smash them into a million pieces. He wanted them to know how badly it hurts to lose your trust in the people who mean the world to you. He would’ve murdered for each and every one of them, but now he couldn’t even stand being in the same room with them when they all acted completely oblivious to the betrayal when they were far from innocent. “You know none of us would go behind your back like that, Kookie.” Tae said quietly, a sad look plastered all over his features, eyes glistening with tears. Jungkook let out a sarcastic laugh. “You all are snakes. I can’t believe I trusted you.” “You know damn well we wouldn’t do that.” Yoongi got up from his seat, his eyes fixated on the younger boy, feeling anger flickering up inside himself. “Are you fucking dumb? You’re the only ones who knew about it and now the boss knows. You fucking ratted me out. Stop lying to me.” Yoongi tried moving past Hoseok to get to Jungkook but Jin grabbed his arm. “Don’t, just leave him be.” “No! Let him, maybe he’s the fucking snitch.” Jungkook barked back. “I’m not a fucking snitch.” Yoongi snarled, trying to wriggle his arm free from Jin’s grasp. Jimin got up and quickly made his way over to him. “Let’s go to my room and talk about this. You’re not seeing things clearly. You need to calm down. Please.” He gently rested his hand on Jungkook’s arm, offering him a warm smile. “Don’t! Touch! Me!” He growled, shoving Jimin away from him before turning his attention back to Yoongi who was still trying to get to him. He didn’t want or need their fake friendship.
“Jungkook we did not tell on you and you know that!” Hoseok said, his eyes following the youngest every move, his chest was rapidly rising and falling. “Maybe one of the managers saw.” He glanced at the other members, Taehyung was hugging a pillow tightly for comfort, his eyes glossed over with tears. Yoongi’s arms were crossed in front of his chest; Hoseok knew he was angry at the unreasonable accusations from Jungkook but there was no use in fighting and saying things he would regret. They all needed to be level-headed and calm in order to find a solution. Lastly, his eyes rested on Namjoon and Jin for a moment; they both had been fairly quiet, just observing what was happening but Hoseok knew them well enough to know that something wasn’t right. “Bullshit. Stop Lying to me and tell me the truth.”
“We’re telling you the truth. It wasn’t us.” Jimin tried making a second approach to getting the youngest member to calm down. “Let’s go out and take a walk so you can calm down a little.” He tried grabbing his hand in an attempt to pull him out of the frenzy he was in but Jungkook roughly swatted his hand away before forcefully pushing him backward, making Jimin stumble and crash against the sofa.
“I said, don’t touch me. You’re all dead to me.” He cried out as he turned his back, repeatedly punching the wall with his fist until he saw red splatters on the white wallpaper. “Jimin-ah, are you okay?” Tae was kneeling next to his best friend, trying to get him into a sitting position. “Yeah, my back just hurts a little.” “Look what you’ve done.” Taehyung’s voice was shaking, tears running down his cheeks as he looked at him with so much pain and sadness that it made his skin crawl. “We would never go behind your back like that.” Jungkook’s ears were ringing, his body felt numb. He didn’t want it to go that far but blinded by the deep-rooted anger, he had lost control. Yet he didn’t feel sorry for hurting his brother. They should be the ones feeling sorry for being traitors and ruining his life. “I think you should you go to your room.” Yoongi sounded calm and collected, almost emotionless as he gave him the instructions. Jungkook let out a sardonic chuckle. “You should feel ashamed, all of you. I can’t believe I trusted you.” He grabbed the framed picture they took on the day of their debut and smashed it on the floor. “Lying pieces of shit.” “That’s enough.” Namjoon stood up, quickly making his way over to him. He stood tall in front of him to stop him from doing any further damage as he locked eyes with him. The stern look on his face was only betrayed by his eyes, giving away how sad and hurt he actually felt. “Fuck this.” Jungkook muttered and stormed off to his room, slamming the door shut behind him. Frantically he grabbed his backpack from his closet and started throwing clothes inside it. There was no time to fold everything nice and neatly. Lastly, he stuffed his phone charger on top before closing it up. His breathing was labored as he looked around his room; he wasn’t going to come back at least for a while. The traitors wouldn’t miss him anyway. * “Is that yummy?” She asked Soo-Yun as she watched her daughter shove little bits of sweet bread into her mouth. She flinched as the doorbell chimed repeatedly. “Mommy will be right back.” Patting her daughters head gently before leaving the kitchen. She checked the intercom, only to see Jungkook impatiently hopping from one foot to the other. Shortly after she had buzzed him in, he came running up the stairs. “Hey.” She smiled, holding out her hand for him to grab but he walked right past her. “You need to pack a few things for you and Soo-Yun.” “What? Why?” She followed him into the living room, where he began pacing up and down. “We don’t have time. Can you please just go pack?” He whined, running his hand through his dark hair. “What happened to your hand?” “Nothing.” “No, that is not nothing. It is all bloody. What did you do?” She sounded worried and closed the distance between them. Carefully she took his hand into hers, examining his knuckles. “We need to clean this and bandage it up, maybe put some ice on it.” “Y/N!” He pulled his hand from her grasp as she looked up at him, her eyes big and full of questions. Gently he cupped her cheeks with both of his hands. “Please, go pack your things, we need to leave. I’ll explain everything later, please just do it.” She nodded, as his slightly chapped lips pressed against her forehead. “Can you pack a few of Soo-Yun’s toys while I go get our clothes?” He watched as she disappeared down the corridor and into the bedroom. Quickly he began collecting soft toys off the floor and making a pile on the couch before grabbing the pink and yellow bag from a chair by the dining table. He heard a soft cry coming from the kitchen. “Hey, baby girl.” He cooed as he lifted his daughter from the highchair and propped her up on his arm, securely wrapping the other around her back. His eyes fell shut as he nestled his face into her soft black hair and inhaled as calmness slowly spread through him and her chubby hand grabbed his ear softly as if she was trying to comfort him. He sat down on the floor with her and watched as she gawkily crawled towards a big purple plush puppy next to the coffee table. “Okay, I’m ready.” He turned his head to see her standing in the doorway with a suitcase, her body wrapped up in a big hoodie, her bag lazily dangling on her shoulder. Jungkook wanted to get up but she shook her head. “Wait.” Moments later she returned with a washcloth and a small bottle in her hands. “I’m not letting you go outside with a bloody hand.” She sat down on the floor with him and gently pressed the warm cloth onto his knuckles. He scrunched up his nose in pain; until this very second, he had not realized how much it actually hurt. “Will you tell me now what happened?” She looked at him, her eyes diving into his; drowning out all the bad things that happened on this awful day. Jungkook shook his head, surprising a whiny noise, as she applied some ointment to his wounds. “No, later. We really have to go.” They got up and she carefully eyed him as he picked up their daughter who was reaching out her arms to the puppy she loved so much and didn’t want to leave behind. Jungkook looked tired and sad; she could tell that something was bothering him but she knew that he would eventually talk; he always needed more time to sort through his thoughts. “I’m sorry, Princess. We can’t take him with us.” He pressed his lips tightly together when Soo-Yun let out a cry, big crocodile tears quickly falling from her eyes. “But you have your little bunny.” Y/n handed him the pink plushie that had been waiting for her in the empty car seat. He tried getting her attention to distract her but the tears just kept coming. He tossed the bunny back into the car seat and tucked the puppy under his arm. “Okay, he’s coming with us.” He whispered, earning a small giggle from his daughter as she hid her face against his shoulder loosely wrapping a small arm around his neck. Just to hear her laugh was worth carrying around a big purple puppy that had strings of silver glitter woven into its fur. The cold air made her shiver as they stepped outside the building. “Are we going to take a taxi?” Jungkook started walking without giving her an answer, carrying the car seat in one hand, the plushie still tucked between his arm and body and pulling her suitcase after him with the other. She had trouble keeping up with him with their daughter tightly wrapped in her arms, but he came to halt in front of a silver SUV, struggling to get the key from his pocket. “Is that yours?” He just shook his head and opened the door. “No, it is Jin’s.” “And he just let you borrow it?” “Something like that.” He shrugged, not wanting her to know that he just took the keys on his way out without permission. She watched him struggle to secure the car seat in the back, knowing he had never done it before. “Here let me do it.” Jungkook stepped away and engulfed Soo-Yun in his arms. She was smiling up at him, one of her hands had freed itself from the warm confinement of the fluffy blanket and tried to grab onto his thumb. Fondly he looked at her small face peeking out from underneath the woolen beanie; he still couldn’t fathom that he took part in creating the most beautiful little girl on earth. With the baby safely strapped into the car seat, the plush puppy sitting in the spot behind the driver’s seat and the suitcase stored in the trunk next to his backpack, the only thing left to do was leave the city. His hands were shaking as he started the car and pulled out of the parking spot; leaving everything and everyone behind. His eyes were fixated on the road ahead of him; the sun setting on the horizon. It was quiet, Soo-Yun was asleep and y/n was looking out the window, watching as the skyline of Seoul grew smaller in the distance. Jungkook had no words to express how thankful he was that she wasn’t prodding him with questions, every thought in his brain was so foggy and messy that he had a hard time thinking straight. He knew that the moment he had to tell her about what happened, he would break down. He didn’t want to tell her that he had been wrong about his best friends all along; that they were all snitches, willing to make his life miserable at the first opportunity that presented itself to them. He hated how they still tried to lie to him although he knew the truth; they unapologetically stabbed him in the back. A low chuckle escaped his lips; it was ironic how everything seemed perfect this morning, almost too good to be true and now his life was in shambles. “Where are we going, Jungkook?” Y/n voice reached his ears, through his rapid train of thoughts; pulling him back to reality. “I don’t know exactly.” “What do you mean, you don’t know?” “We had to leave Seoul, okay? That’s all I know.” He glanced over to her, her brows were furrowed in question. “Okay but why?” “I can’t tell you…not now.” He could feel his whole body starting to shake, tears welling up in his eyes. He shook his head a little, hoping that the tears would just seep back into his skull. “Pull over.” “No, we have to keep going.” He started to feel panic rising up inside his stomach, spreading to every inch of his body. “Jungkook, pull over!” He did as he was told, the car coming to a halt on the emergency lane on the highway. “You know I would go anywhere with you but we have a baby to take care of and I need to know where we are going and I wanna know what happened that would make you want to leave...” Silently he sucked his bottom lip in between his teeth. “Tell me what happened, baby. Please.” She pleaded but he couldn’t find the right words to express his anger and disappointment in the people he used to call his family so instead, he rested his forehead against his hands on the steering wheel, trying to choke back the tears that were finally threatening to spill from his eyes. “They betrayed me…us…” His voice was nothing but a whisper, yet she didn’t dare to ask any further questions as quiet sobs escaped from his lips.
Jungkook lifted his head up, as he heard the clicking of the seatbelt buckle and the door opening. She quickly walked around the car and opened his door. “What are you doing?” He hiccuped, wiping the tears from his cheeks with his sleeve. “Scoot over. I’m driving.” “What?” “Do it.” Clumsily he climbed over the middle console, sitting in the passenger seat like a lost puppy; lips trembling and hands shaking. “I said, I’d go anywhere with you, so where do you want to go?”

ease
for @fmdhyunwoo
“you two are doing a collaboration track.”
han sua has rarely ever been fazed by anything.
it seems almost unsettling how she always seems to have herself contained, a constant display of gloomy deadpans and flat expressions. although the occasional smile or chuckle could sometimes be drawn out of her, there’s a strange combination of graceful ease in every gesture she makes, a relaxed sort of poise displayed even in the smallest actions.
the week had been particularly slow, then, and han sua basked in the tranquility provided by her clear schedules. unusual, perhaps, especially for such an established artist, but as she buries herself in the soft covers she can’t find it in herself to complain. things like this are especially hard to come by nowadays, and she thinks, after years of unwavering dedication and committing themselves to perfection, she and her members very much deserve to rest.
this morning, however, seems keen on making an exception – she’d been called to her manager’s office at an ungodly hour, daylight not even barely breaking through the dark horizon. her line of work has always dictated that she be on-call at all times, and she was fine that. she’s had years of practice with impossibly quick showering and spotting the most presentable clothes available in the closet. at this point, one could consider it a talent.
yes, han sua is good at keeping herself together and taking all things in stride; but, as any other person would, han sua does (albeit unintentionally) occasionally slip –
this is one of those occasional slips.
she fails to register the fractional widening of her eyes and the deep breath she takes at her manager’s words, jaw dropping just enough for her to look taken aback. her gaze flits over to him and kwon hyunwoo’s manager multiple times, almost cyclically, unable to form any words as a ball of tension lodges itself in her throat. she spares him not a glance, however, instead choosing to let her hands tighten over the edge of the armrest.
it’s mostly disbelief than anything, really. a previous incident between her and kwon hyunwoo had sparked a few rumors, with people speculating if the two were secretly dating. she’d found it all incredibly absurd – he’d only been greeting his industry superiors as a good hoobae would, but it seems the public had caught him sending multiple glances in her direction that night, during an awards ceremony that both their groups had attended. she refused to acknowledge these apparent longing gazes and loving stares, dismissing them as nothing but ludicrous assumptions.
but this almost looks like the management plans on cashing out from the rumors. it’s been a few months since then, and the uproar has mostly died down as it slowly became old news. hearing this now, however, sounds as if they think otherwise. an expression of discomfort displaces the initial shock, dread settling in the pit of her stomach at the thought of this collaboration rekindling – and maybe even worsening – the whole situation. while she’s become accustomed to being under the spotlight after all these years, the thought of her being the center of attention for reasons other than stellar performances somehow troubles her deeply.
still, she knows there would be no point in declining. that would only be seen as being unappreciative towards the company’s efforts to promote her career, and that was the last thing she wanted to be seen as. sua crosses her arms and leans back in her seat, already gathering her thoughts and preparing herself for what was to come.
“that sounds terrific,” there’s a tight-lipped smile that tugs at her lips. she’s uncomfortable, still, but she hopes the steadiness in her voice is enough to fool everyone else in this room. “when do we start recording?”

Here's the best and worst moments of the 2017 Golden Globes
Love them or hate them, the Golden Globes are always a hell of a night. The 2017 ceremony brought a deluge of wins for La La Land, political speeches and honors for newbies like Atlanta and The Crown.
SEE ALSO: Denzel Washington is all of us watching the Golden Globes
Below, our roundup of the best and worst from the three-hour ceremony.
The Best
The La La Land opener
There’s nothing Hollywood loves more than Hollywood — and, of course, making fun of it. Fallon’s opening number, a tribute to awards darling La La Land, was the perfect way to kick off an awards show in the city of stars.
It began — as many Los Angeles days do — with a bunch of people sitting in traffic. This time, the freeway was replaced by the Golden Globes carpet, and a sea of stretch limos. The Stranger Things squad rapped, Nicole Kidman and Amy Adams danced, and Westworld’s Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) and Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington made appearances.
Of course, Justin Timberlake and Fallon also shared a Ryan Gosling/Emma Stone-style dance (only after Fallon hilariously turned down Tina Fey). We'd watch that remake.
Hugh Laurie's HFPA joke
Despite dramatic turns like his Globe-winning work in The Night Manager, Laurie is a finely honed comedian, delivering wisecracks with a sarcastic twinkle in his eye.
“The last Golden Globes,” he said while accepting his award. “I don't mean to be gloomy but it has the words 'Hollywood,' 'foreign' and 'press' in it," he said, referencing the coming Donald Trump administration.

Sorry Jacob Tremblay, sorry Stranger Things kids, but the most popular pint-sized red carpet celeb is Lion’s Sunny Pawar, rocking his kicks and having to be lifted magnificently into the air by Dev Patel to introduce Lion’s Best Motion Picture - Drama nomination.

Ryan Reynolds and Andrew Garfield kiss
While we were busy watching one of our many internet boyfriends, Ryan Gosling, talk about being a dreamy pianist in La La Land, the other Canadian Ryan (Reynolds) and Andrew Garfield shared an intimate moment. Thankfully, the internet was there for us — and made sure it was a moment we didn’t miss.
And just like that: A new bromance is born. We totally ‘ship it.
Viola Davis introducing Meryl Streep
Davis and Streep shared the screen in 2008's Doubt, and Davis's introduction for Streep's Cecil B. DeMill award was pure poetry. Viola, please introduce everything forever.
"Dame Streep," said a reverent Davis. "Her artistry reminds of the impact of what it means to be an artist, which is to make us feel less alone."
I have never met Viola Davis but pls have her do my eulogy.
— Cameron Esposito (@cameronesposito) January 9, 2017
Streep's speech was perfect as well.
Moonlight wins Best Motion Picture - Drama
2016 was an exceptional year for movies. La La Land may have swept its categories, but with Comedy and Drama separated for the Globes, Moonlight's victory was imminent. Barry Jenkins' poignant and understated story of one boy's journey to manhood is stirring, immense and not to be missed.
The Worst
Jimmy Fallon's Chris Rock impression
Fallon may have meant it to be innocent, but his impersonation of Chris Rock immediately ignited criticism.

Sofia Vergara “misreading” teleprompter
How many times are they going to make Sofia Vergara make fun of her of own voice? #GoldenGlobes
— Ashley Weatherford (@sincerelyash) January 9, 2017
It's an awful waste to make Vergara — a beautiful, hilarious, talented actress — do the same bit every time. We get it, she has an accent. Must it always be poked fun at?
"Hidden Fences"
NO. NO. He did not just say #HiddenFences! There can be two movies about Black women at the same time, seriously. SERIOUSLY. #GoldenGlobes.
— Shelby Knox (@ShelbyKnox) January 9, 2017
In a year when the Best Limited Series category included The Night Of, The Night Manager, American Crime and American Crime Story, the titles that kept getting garbled were Hidden Figures and Fences.
Jenna Bush Hager made the mistake on the red carpet while interviewing an unamused Pharrell Williams, which was a significant enough standalone gaffe before Michael Keaton repeated it during the awards ceremony.
Chastain and the Redmayne
Brad Pitt’s beautiful introduction to the even more beautiful Moonlight got inexplicably followed up by Jimmy Fallon’s clunky "Insane in the Membrane" introduction of presenters Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne. Jimmy...why?
Btw thank you, Jimmy Fallon, for that "Chastain and the Redmayne" thing, which perfectly encapsulates why I hate you
— C.A. Pinkham (@EyePatchGuy) January 9, 2017
BONUS: Jimmy Fallon's Chris Rock impression at the Golden Globes was a 'no' for Twitter

What we learned from the Golden Globes: Meryl Streep always wins and Ryan Gosling never fails
The curtain has fallen on this years ceremony and heres our key takeaways, including the best anti-Trump speech, the wittiest mention of syphilis and what it all means for next months Oscars
Theres no stopping La La Land, the post-truth underdog
Right from the start, which saw Jimmy Fallons opening skit entirely devoted to a spoof of La La Land, it was obvious Damien Chazelles hymn to Hollywood had converted the 90-odd members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association men and women who had left their homelands to travel to La La Land and pen their own hymns to Hollywood.
But just how faithful the converts proved couldnt quite be predicted: the film took seven gongs over the evening (best song, best score, best director, best screenplay, best actor, best actress, best comedy or musical), beating the likes of One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest to make new record.

So how did they do it? Especially when some of the awards (such as screenplay) were felt by some to be a bit optimistic? Well, that opening sequence was also significant, because it showed that La La Land is a lot easier to parody than, say, Moonlight (black gay man in Miami struggles with sexuality and addict mother) and Manchester by the Sea (gloomy janitor returns home after the death of his brother to grapple with previous family tragedy) and may end up with a lot more cultural currency, even significance, as a result.
That the Globes split their categories (drama and comedy or musical) naturally favours movies such as Chazelles, but, as Benjamin Lee pointed out in his liveblog, every La La acceptance speech also pushed the notion of the movie as an underdog a crazy mad idea and a wild punt for the studio to back.
But remember: this is a romance starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, directed by a man whose most recent movie won three Oscars, and which like Argo and The Artist strokes that hand that feeds it. But, whatever works.
Unless its the actual underdog
La La Lands main rival, Barry Jenkinss Moonlight, went into the race with nearly the same number of nominations, and came away with just one win. But what a win: best drama. The fact it was robbed in the supporting actor category (where Mahershala Ali lost out to Aaron Taylor-Johnson) may even help its chances going forward for what we now have is a genuine underdog (albeit one thats so far picked up 120 awards) with a little outraged momentum behind it (thought #JusticeForMoonlight felt a bit of a trending punt). The last movie to take just best drama at the Globes? Best picture Oscar winner 12 Years a Slave
Congratulations can still come with a bouquet of barbed wire
Despite significant wins for actors of colour actors this year, there were slightly fewer than expected (see Ali), and efforts to forget the #OscarsSoWhite controversy were undermined by not one, but two, people (George Bushs daughter, Michael Keaton) conflating the names of the two big nominated movies featuring black actors. Fences are still visible; perhaps Figures still arent, quite.
Meryl 2020
Meryl Streep attacks Donald Trump in Golden Globes speech
Can a blonde white woman in her late 60s defeat Donald Trump? If anyone can, Meryl can. Her speech picking up the Cecil B DeMille lifetime achievement award was easily the runaway moment of the night: impassioned, funny, fearless and picking up perhaps the prize dreadful moment in the president-elects campaign: his mocking of a disabled reporter on the campaign trail.
It kind of broke my heart, and I saw it, and I still cant get it out of my head because it wasnt in a movie. It was real life. And this instinct to humiliate when its modelled by someone in the public platform by someone powerful, it filters down into everybodys life because it kind of gives permission for other people to do the same thing.
Disrespect invites disrespect. Violence incites violence. When the powerful use definition to bully others, we all lose.
Trump duly responded, not on Twitter, but by telling the New York Times he hadnt watched the show but was not surprised that the liberal movie people ridiculed him. Sad!
Hugh Laurie for VP
A shock choice for supporting actor in a drama series over favourite John Lithgow for that other great statesman, Churchill but Laurie made up for it with a pitch-perfect address, which preceded Streeps and lamented that this was likely the last Globes ceremony. Accepting the prize on behalf of psychopathic billionaires everywhere, Laurie said:
I dont mean to be gloomy, its just that it has the words Hollywood, Foreign and Press in the title. I just dont know I also think to some Republicans, even the word association is slightly sketchy.
Viola Davis for secretary of state
A controversial one this, not because she aced the supporting actress performance for which she won her prize, nor for her great speech, nor even her composed anti-Trump rant backstage:
Viola Davis makes powerful anti-Trump speech backstage at Golden Globes
But for allowing us all to get a glimpse of the real Streep, sharing a strange food-shaming incident in her introduction to the great woman.
Streep: Whatd you do last night, Viola?
Davis: Oh, I cooked an apple pie.
Streep: Did you use Pippin apples?
Davis: Pippin apples, What the hell is Pippin apples? I used Granny Smith apples.
Streep: Did you make your own crust?
Davis: No, I used store-bought crust. Thats what I did.
Streep: Then you didnt make an apple pie, Viola.
Davis: Well, thats because I spent all my time making collard greens! I make the best collard greens. I use smoked turkey, chicken stock and my special BBQ sauce.
Streep: Well, they dont taste right unless you use ham hocks. If you dont use ham hocks, it doesnt taste the same.

Accidents can happen, thank God
In what looked like one of the most locked-down ceremonies in years, a couple of bona fide surprises leapt out. The first with the HFPAs love for Paul Verhoevens hot-potato rape revenge comedy Elle a movie previously deemed too controversial for major acclaim. But it took not just best foreign language film (over the more politically safe Toni Erdmann) but also best actress for Isabelle Huppert: now a major Oscar contender, leaving both previous frontrunners (Natalie Portman and Emma Stone), fretting into their frocks.
The second shocker also showcased the Globess more offbeat taste: two big wins (best comedy series, best actor for Donald Glover) for Atlanta, about the citys rap scene. The Globes can be notoriously wacky this time round, in a good way.
We need to pin our hopes on the other Jimmy
youtube
Fallon had a lot to live up to. In part because Amy Poehler and Tina Fey set such a high benchmark for this gig a couple of years back; also because Fallon patsied to Trump on his chatshow a couple of months back. But despite a few early digs at the president-elect, he failed to deliver. Most glaring was his inability to competently wing it when the teleprompter broke. All such issues were highlighted by the brilliance of some of the presenters, in particular Kristen Wiig, who having stolen the showin 2013 with her Will Ferrell double act, repeated the trick this time with Steve Carell. Can fellow talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel top it at the Oscars next month? Probably.
Heartthrobs are called heartthrobs for a reason
Ryan Goslings best actor speech saw peak metrosexual pin-up this year: losing nominees Ryan Reynolds and Andrew Garfield shared a snog, while Gosling further confirmed his dreaminess at the podium. He ended his speech by paying tribute to his lady Eva Mendes for looking after their daughter and her brother (who had cancer, and to whose memory he dedicated the prize) while she was pregnant with their second child and he was off twinkling his toes on La La Land. So, sweetheart, thank you.
youtube
Tom Hiddleston, meanwhile, went full humanitarian, closing with a story about a recent trip to South Sudan with the UN Childrens Fund and dedicating his prize to aid workers everywhere. The weird cuts to Christian Slater and the kids from Stranger Things didnt help, but it was still stirring stuff.
The Brits are coming! But so is Netflix
Hiddleston won for The Night Manager, the Beebs big hit of the night gongs also for Laurie and Olivia Colman but the series-which-should-have-been-made-by-the-BBC-but-wasnt took best TV series (drama) and best actress (for Claire Foy). After the anti-climatic hoohah around Netflixs first big film production, Beasts of No Nation, the streaming service finally made good. Lucky, given The Crown still has five very expensive series still to fund and run.
Real actors are never off
Lithgow backstage with Claire Foy and Peter Morgan. Photograph: Mario Anzuoni/Reuters
Greatest ad-lib of the night? Probably John Lithgow, who channelled Churchill with aplomb in the press room. Being told his fly was undone, Lithgow quoted back the great cigar-chomper: Its not a problem. A dead bird never leaves its nest. The runners-up prize goes to Hugh Grant, wrongly leaked as the winner of best actor (comedy or musical), who describes the plot of Florence Foster Jenkins as, accurately enough, about a woman slowly dying of syphilis.
